5.0 Methodology
Excavation
• Limits of the Excavation would be identified from the drawings and required levels and lines would be set out by the surveyor using pegs.
• Excavation would be carried out by wheel back-hoe loaders or any other suitable equipment up to the required levels and lines. Necessary working space would be considered while excavation.
• All suitable material would be properly stock piled and other unsuitable material would be disposed to a suitable disposal location by tipper trucks.
• If the exposed surface is unsuitable for the construction of foundation, necessary excavation would be done for back filling with suitable material.
Construction of the Foundation
Form work and False Work:
• Form work would be made using 12mm thick plywood sheets and those sheets would be cut to the required dimensions by a hack saw.
• Each plywood sheet would be firmly jointed and supported by 2″x2″ timbers to avoid the leakages through the joints.
• Outer surface of the form work sheets would be supported by 2″x2″ timbers through the surface at their centers to avoid the undesirable movements while concreting.
• Form work sheets in wall section would be tight by tie rods (If required) providing in both horizontal & vertical directions. Those tie rods would be driven through PVC pipes.
Reinforcement:
• Reinforcement for bottom vertical portion of the foundation would be provided as shown in the drawing and also the reinforcement arrangement in the active side & passive side would be provided according to the drawing. Required lap would be provided depending on the bar diameter.
• In case of the bottom net, Cover blocks would be provided in a suitable spacing not to create sagging of the bottom net.
Concreting Work:
• Concreting area of the foundation would be properly cleaned to remove the dust and other impurities by a manual mean or using compressed air.
• Slump of the mix would be checked at the site before concreting weather to confirm that
• Number of cubes for base concrete would be cast at the site for traceability control of concrete.
• Concrete would be placed in successive layers and porker vibrator would be applied while concreting.
• Curing would be done for base concreting using wet gunny bags after 24 hrs from concreting and it would be preceded up to 7 days.
Construction of the Cantilevered Wall
Form work
• Form work for the wall section would be made by 12mm thick plywood sheets and those plywood sheets would be firmly jointed and each edge would be supported by 2″x2″ timbers.
• Form work frame would be supported by timbers with the existing ground by maintaining its verticality and horizontality.
